Pump Out Plugs

Pump Out Plugs are a simple and effective method to hold pressure. They feature a solid core plug, which is best suited to snubbing type operations or setting of hydraulic set packers. These plugs hold pressure from below without any strain on the shear screws. They are available in variety of styles, in either standard aluminium insert or dissolvable, as well as a mule shoe option for running in deviated wells, in addition to an inline style allowing tubing to be ran below.

The shear pressure rating on the plugs can be easily adjusted in the field, by removal of a brass shear screw. Once sheared, the plug insert is forced out the bottom, and in all cases except the inline style leaving a fully open tubing bore.

Simply install the O-ring, lightly grease, slide insert into open end of body. Then install shear screws in the threaded holes. Tighten securely to prevent backing off while running downhole.  Lightly crimping the screw shoulders gives an extra assurance against the screws backing off, but can affect reuse of the body.

The Dissolvable insert plug is a matrix material with a special coating that resists attack until after it is sheared. Once the insert plug is forced out the bottom and into the well fluid environment, it will begin to dissolve.
