API Pony Rods

Oil Baron Supply offers a wide range of high-strength API steel pony rods for both vertical and horizontal wells. All of our rods meet API 11B standards, and each pony rod is manufactured with cold rolled threads.

Pony rods allow for precise customisation of the rod string length. This is essential for matching the rod string to the specific depth and conditions of the well, ensuring optimal performance of the pumping system.

Pony rods are available in 5/8 inch (15,88 mm), 3/4 inch (19,05 mm), 7/8 inch (22,23 mm), 1 inch (25,4 mm), 1-1/8 inch (25,58 mm) and 1-1/4 inch (31,75 mm) rod body diameters and in 1 ft, 2ft, 4ft, 6ft, 8ft, 10ft and 12ft lengths, depending on size and grade.

Quality:

• Raw material samples are sent and tested in a national level laboratory to ensure they match the mill certifications
• Quality gates are set at all operations for review and approval prior to moving to the next process
• Mechanical properties testing occurs in the factory and test samples are sent to a national level laboratory for validation and final approval
• Straightness requirements are more stringent than API 11B
• 100% magnetic particle examination of the upset ends after heat treatment
• 100% inspection of all machined surfaces
