obs is pleased to announce the appointment of Oscar Santillán as our new Business Unit Manager – Drilling and Completions. Oscar brings over 14 years of international oil and gas experience to the team, including a decade of specialist expertise in Greenfields and Remote Operations across Queensland. His appointment strengthens our capability in one of our most active service areas and reflects our ongoing commitment to building a team that delivers real value to our clients.
A Proven Leader in Drilling and Completions
Oscar holds a Bachelor of Engineering and has built his career on technical rigour, operational excellence, and a genuine focus on client outcomes. His deep knowledge of Queensland's Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004 ensures that Well Delivery programmes meet all mandatory legislative obligations, a critical requirement for the operators we work with across the state.
In his most recent role as Business Development Manager, Oscar was responsible for identifying and delivering the best available solutions for clients operating in complex environments. His experience spans both the commercial and operational sides of the industry, giving him a well-rounded perspective that is invaluable in his new role.
Driving Quality and Continuous Improvement
Oscar is a strong believer in structured improvement processes. As a project lead, he implemented the 5S Improvement System across departments, leading the planning, training, and audit process to achieve measurable quality outcomes. His approach to root cause analysis has consistently helped teams prevent operational reoccurrences and streamline future performance, a mindset that aligns directly with how obs operates.
When managing operations, Oscar's priority has always been ensuring his team is ready to perform and that every process is in order. He conducts ongoing structured reviews with key stakeholders and integrates findings directly into operating procedures. It is this proactive, detail-oriented approach that makes him such a strong fit for obs.
